Installing KPrint Printers

NOTE: KPrint is compatible with macOS 12 (Monterey) and later only. For older macOS versions, reference alternative print methods.

Kellogg Faculty and staff with managed computers will have printing software installed and printing configured automatically. If you do not see the KPrint-BW and KPrint-Color printers please reach out to KIS.

Kellogg Students have to manually install the printers following these steps:

  1. If on campus, make sure you're connected to Wi-Fi eduroam. If off campus, connect to Northwestern VPN.
  2. Download the Kprint Installation file
  3. Find the downloaded file pc-print-deploy-client[10.22.147.140].dmg and double click.
  4. With the DMG file opened, double-click PaperCut Print Deploy Client.pkg.
  5. Depending on your computer architecture, you may be prompted to install Rosetta.  If so, click Install to install Rosetta.
  6. In the Print Deploy Install window, click Continue twice, then Agree to the license terms.
  7. Click Install.
  8. Enter your Apple user account credentials at the security prompt and click Install Software.
  9. If prompted, Allow administration.
  10. In the PaperCut Print Deploy Client window, you will see the KPrint-BW and KPrint Color queues.  Click the Sign in to install button on either of the queues.
  11. An “Additional sign in required” window will pop up.
  12. Enter Kellogg\NetID for the username and your NetID password.
  13. Click Sign in and install.
  14. Due to macOS security restrictions, print queue installation can occasionally fail. If you see red “Failed” text for either print queue, click the Install button again to repeat the queue install attempt.
  15. You may receive a system message giving you the option to allow or disallow notifications. Select Allow.
  16. See the Releasing Print Jobs section below for information on how to release your job at the printer.
