Best Practices & Quick Tips
- Gather all your devices before you start: you'll need to update your password on your computer(s), tablet, and phone. Close all open browsers on these devices.
- Restart your computer right after changing your password: this reduces the chance of your account getting locked due to an old saved password.
- Download and re-run KPrint: anyone using a non-Kellogg-owned and/or a non-domain laptop should take this step when on campus after a password change to reconnect to the Kellogg printers.
- Log into KPrint with "kellogg\yournetid" and select the option to remember/save your password.
- Don't delay changing your NetID password: you lose access to Kellogg & Northwestern resources if you don't change your password before it expires annually. Avoid the hassle of not being able to access email, documents, and printers by changing your password before you receive that third & final notice from Northwestern.
Faculty & Staff: Changing Your Password from Off-Campus
Faculty and staff who are using Kellogg-provided Windows computers and who log on with their NetID & password should take the following steps to change their password from off-campus:
- Log onto VPN
- Change your NetID password (see below)
- Lock your computer by hitting Windows Key + L OR by CTRL+ALT+DEL & selecting Lock
- Log back onto your computer using your new NetID password
- Continue with remaining steps
If you have an issue with logging back onto your computer with your new NetID password:
- Log onto your computer using your OLD NetID password (the one you just changed from)
- Log onto VPN using your NEW NetID password (the one you just set)
Change Your NetID password
- I know my current password: Go to NUValidate, enter your NetID and password to log in, and select Change NetID Password.
- I forgot my password, or it has expired: Go to the password reset page, enter your NetID, and select Forgot your Password. You can then either:
- Click Authenticate via Duo to receive a temporary activation code to log in and create a new password.
- Provide answers to two of your security questions and create a new password on the bottom half of the password reset page.
- I don't know the answers to my security questions: To ensure your security, we do not make password changes over the phone. Please visit your KIS Support Center if you have problems accessing your account. If you are away from campus or cannot visit one of our support centers due to extenuating circumstances, contact us.

Reconnect Email, Wireless, & Printers
Email
If you are using Microsoft Outlook, you should be prompted to enter your new password. You may be asked to enter your password more than once if you have more than one email account set up.
Wireless (on campus)
When on campus, if you are not prompted to use your new password to connect to eduroam wireless, "forget" the network and reconnect with your new credentials.
KPrint (on campus)
When on campus, reinstall the printers using Kellogg\yournetid as the user name and your new password. Be sure to select to remember/save the password. You can find the latest installer & full instructions on our site for both Windows & Mac.
Update Your Phone & Tablet with the New Password
Kellogg Wireless (on campus)
When next on campus, remove/forget the eduroam network and then reconnect using your new credentials.
Kellogg Email
The next time you check your email from your phone or tablet, you will get an error and/or be prompted to enter your new password. After you enter your new password, your account should automatically update.
