Emeritus Support Services

Northwestern Recommended Antivirus Software

CrowdStrike Falcon is Northwestern's licensed software application for protecting Northwestern-owned and managed machines and devices against viruses and other malware. For personal devices, Northwestern recommends Microsoft Defender for Windows and Sophos for macOS.

More information about antivirus software can be found on NUIT's website.

Microsoft Home Use Program

Emeriti faculty are eligible to purchase a discounted copy of Microsoft 365 Personal to install on their personal computer through the Microsoft Home Use Program. Instructions for this process are detailed on NUIT's website.

Please note that Microsoft Visio and Project are not available as discounted software items through the Microsoft Home Use Program.

Adobe Creative Cloud

Northwestern IT provides an Emeriti exception process established with the Service Desk that facilitates ad hoc requests for a NU-sponsored Adobe Creative Cloud license. Their office has a limited number of licenses available, so this process should only be used by Emeriti who have a work-related need.

To request a license, an Emeritus faculty can send an email to servicedesk@northwestern.edu or call 1-491-4357 (1-HELP).

For additional information regarding Adobe Creative Cloud, please refer to NUIT's website.

Research Support

If Emeriti faculty are still conducting academic research, the Kellogg Research Support office can provide assistance. They can help with creating websites and applications, manuscript editing, computational consulting, and RA & TA matching.

Their office can be reached by emailing rs@kellogg.northwestern.edu.

More information about the Research Support Office can be found on their website.
